mss, lettersCollection of 43 manuscripts, mostly letters, dated c.1850, relating to the Richardson/Davy/Fletcher families at Lancrigg, the large house in Easedale, in whose woods it is claimed Wordsworth wrote parts of The Prelude. The letters are between the well-to-do people enjoying the ‘schemes of retirement’ defended by Wordsworth in his sonnet opposing the Windermere railway, 1844.
