This is a queue outside the Booths supermarket in Windermere. Until then I had associated queueing for food with the Soviet Union or Britain during wartime; something that happened during dreadful times and in extreme difficulties.
I had heard this was happening in other parts of the country but it was still a shock, and at first very sad to witness this happening in our small community. Another acknowledgment of our acceptance of what is happening to us.
The next thing that struck me was how we have adapted beautifully to the new lockdown rules in order to fight the virus and protect the community. We have resigned ourselves to this situation very quickly and the photograph shows everyone keeping to the rules and standing a safe two metres apart, awaiting their turn to enter the store.
