A Clothes Peg

I’ve learnt many new words and phrases as a result of Covid-19, including ‘furloughed’, to describe those who are laid off work altogether at Government expense, and ‘WFH’, to describe those who are now working from home.  Most of my colleagues are in the former category; I am in the latter.  My commute is now up my own stairs, and if I have any contact at all with my few remaining workmates, it is via a computer screen.

However, WFH has its upsides too.  Before lockdown, I rarely had the confidence to hang my washing out, unattended and at the mercy of the changeable Lake District weather, for an entire working day.  But now I am ‘WFH’, and on hand in case it rains, I can get clothes dried in half the time.  I normally spend very little time at home so for me, lockdown has brought with it the novelty of hanging out washing, baking, and other small domestic acts.
