Doctors in Scrubs Teddies

These little teddies have been my lockdown therapy. They are “thank you” teddies to show gratitude for our amazing NHS and all key workers on the front line. An idea from the website knitables.com.
With time on my hands and a distant memory of my Mum teaching me to knit when I was young, I thought I would have a go at making them. Many people must of had the same idea as when I tried to purchase some knitting needles on line they were out of stock everywhere. I asked some friends on a WhatsApp group if they could help and within 30 minutes the needles were at my front door.
My daughter and son in law both work in the NHS and and like many of their colleagues they have lived through some very challenging times recently. My daughter has been re-deployed to work on Covid wards in a Manchester Hospital and has sent us photos herself in a variety of scrubs, always different sizes and colours and always with a smile on her face. That’s why these title teddies seemed such an appropriate project for me. I have made one for each grandchild as a memento of this surreal time.
There are many things that have been positive about lockdown, like enjoying so many wonderful walks, especially with the great weather we have had and having the time to chat to people I’ve met on the way. Zoom exercises classes ran by amazing teachers, so a big thank you to all of them. Living life at a slower pace. An appreciation of the things that really matter like good health, family and friends.
