The shock of waking up after lock down to silence. For the rest of the day the lay-by and grass vergers were devoid of parked cars and lorries. It was as though the world had stopped. Walking out into the garden all we could hear was bird song.
Within 24 hours we had adjusted to our new world and revelled in the peace and quiet. No lorries, no cars, no long lines of motorbikes or sports cars, no motor homes and no aircraft of any sort. Once the road and lay-by were litter picked they remained clean. No more discarded bottles, cans , packaging and dog poo bags. Conversations could be had across the road without interruptions from traffic.
